UNIQUE EVENT TO FIGHT LOCAL AIDS EPIDEMIC - 5th Annual Twisted Trivia
(Spartanburg, S.C. – January 23, 2017) – The 5th annual Twisted Trivia fundraiser to support Piedmont Care’s HIV prevention program is “the only adult trivia party in town,” states Board Member, Kristi Ward. “You won’t see this kind of entertainment and group interaction anywhere else, and the best part is – all the shenanigans are for a great cause. We listened to our patrons and have made changes for this year’s event. Extended time, silent auction, and shorter trivia games will give patrons more time to socialize!”
Local legend Patti O’Furniture, the entertainer known as the “yard sale with legs,” will reprise her role as Mistress of Ceremonies. “I am thrilled to come back to my hometown to raise money for this extraordinary organization,” states O’Furniture. “Twisted Trivia is edgy and provocative. I promise you won’t want to miss it!”

Piedmont Care is the only organization in the community 100% dedicated to the fight against HIV and AIDS. According to Piedmont Care’s executive director, Tracey Jackson, “Our HIV prevention program is 100% funded by the community they serve. That’s why this fundraiser is so important.” Since 1994, Piedmont Care has served more than 1400 people living with HIV/AIDS and their families. More than 900 people have learned their HIV status and received prevention counseling through our free HIV testing program and thousands of our neighbors have accessed free condoms and HIV prevention education.
South Carolina ranks 13th in the nation for AIDS case rates. In South Carolina, approximately 16,000 men and women are estimated to be living with HIV/AIDS. The South accounted for about half (52%) of all new AIDS diagnoses in 2015.
Piedmont Care is the nonprofit organization providing HIV and AIDS care, prevention, and advocacy in our community: (864) 582-7773, www.piedmontcare.org, Facebook, and Twitter.
